A Panini Grill to melt precious… plastic

A workshop about converting plastic bottle caps into a table game

During the “Maths Spring Festival” -  ‘Le Printemps des Mathématiques’ - organised by LES MATHS En SCENE in Toulouse, France, Digijeunes ran workshops on making tangram pieces from recycled plastic.The festival aims to give schoolchildren and the general public the chance to discover new perspectives on science and mathematics. 

Participants were able to melt plastic bottle caps using sandwich presses, then, using moulds we had designed ourselves, create geometric shapes such as triangles and squares, which they could then use as game pieces.
