Turning plastic bottles into 3D printing filament

Today, we are excited to introduce our new machine: the PET Filament Maker. It allows you to transform plastic bottles into 3D printer filament. Most plastic bottles are made from PET, a type of plastic that, thanks to its relatively high melting temperature, is well-suited for 3D printing. It is also strong enough to create a wide variety of durable plastic objects.

The PET Filament Maker was invented by a Polish engineer, who offers both kits and pre-assembled machines. We decided to take on the challenge of assembling it ourselves. After ordering a kit containing the electronic components, such as switches and motors, we had to 3D print all the necessary structural parts.

Now, we can run our 3D printers using reels of recycled plastic filament. If you’d like to turn your own plastic bottles into filament—or even create your own plastic objects—you can do it here in our workshop!
